Off Base

On Day One, proceed to the 558/559 FTS auditorium which is located in Hangar 64.  The briefing begins at 0800 and will last until approximately 1400.  I mentioned on the Prior to Arriving page about the horrendous Randolph AFB gate traffic.  I'd recommend leaving early enough to arrive at least 30 minutes before start time. For a detailed list of the itinerary, click here.  This information is also available at the billeting office.  Although, when I went through in 2005, the welcome package had not been updated since 2003 and it was full of T-37 stuff.

You will also be given time during the day to pick up your publications at the bookstore in Bldg 743.  Also during that time period, you will have to complete a Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) lesson at the CAI lab (Bldg 738).  CAI is just another name for the CBTs that you accomplished at your previous MWS.  This lesson is just an introduction on how to use the CAI.  After you're done with your briefings, pubs pick-up, and CAIs, you will most likely meet your flight commander.  This is basically a ROE brief of the do's and do not's while at PIT.

There will also be a weigh-in that day.  For those of worried about this, don't stress over it.  The only thing they check for is to make sure you're within the ejection seat parameters (245 lbs max).  If you're over it then they have you sign a waiver stating that you understand that the Martin-Baker seat is only guaranteed to the max weight.

I included a map below to help you find your way around base.
